Farewell

We attended our first farewell party last night. Such events are a regular feature of the expatriate lifestyle in Beijing, given the fluctuations of the foreign population here in China's capital. But last night was our first such event and held for one of our favorite foreigners, unfortunately. She's sweet, funny, an amazing chef, the owner of a somewhat obese cat named Gus, and she has some pretty odd interests. Most importantly, however, she went out of her way to make us feel welcome when we first arrived, and so we will miss her a lot.
