A family friend from back home in Kansas just made the U.S. Olympic Team. According to The Oregonian, Christian Smith posted 1:45.47 in the 800 meter dash at the Olympic Trials, which qualifies him for a trip to the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
We'll be sure to get him a jianbing, a dust mask, and a map of non-squatter toilets for the day of the race.

Congrats to your friend! Perhaps the wildfire smoke and pollen in Eugene's skies during the trials gave him a taste of what to expect in Beijing.
