Foreign Direct Investment

There's some happenings afoot with FDI. China Law Blog notes recently released revisions of the Catalog for the Guidance of Foreign Invested Enterprises (Revised 2007) 外商投资产业指导目录（2007 年修订) The China Post has an article about how FDI rose more than 13.2% in October 2007, as compared to October 2008. Finally, two American economists recently abstracted some fun findings vis-a-vis China's failure to encourage domestic technological sophistication through FDI policy. One has to wonder, then, why China continues its attempts to apply command and control to FDI.
